More Cheese Please!

With a unique flavour combination being one of the main agendas of food companies at the moment. I was inspired by the variation of flavours from the cheese stall during a visit to a food festival. Greeted by two men who’s love of cheese so close to mine handed out enough samples for a mouse to feel right at home.

The first flavor experience was a lovely Mature Cheddar with Red Wine and Caramelized Onion that melted in the mouth, sure to be perfect with a good glass of Port on a winter evening. Then Followed by indulging in Sticky  Toffee Apple Cheese lovely for a cold Bonfire Night. However the flavor revolution to my taste buds was the Chilli Lime and Tequila Cheese, the chilli gave me a kick of strong cheese flavour while the sharp Tequila saturated me with enough alcohol to inspire a Mexican dance.

So its got me thinking about all my favorite flavors I would love to add to my cheese Apple Cider, Lemon, Chorizo, Cherry Brandy the list is endless. Why not get inspired and experiment with your favourite flavours?

Tell us what unique flavour combination you would add to your cheese?

Ice Cream Nolstalgia- My 10 Retro Classics

Who could forget the excited feeling of the ice cream music ringing out? followed by you and a herd of children all running down the street as fast as your little legs could carry you to the van. The experience of selecting your lolly as it was the most important decision ever made as you queued up at the van with such excitement! Oh the childhood memories of all them lovely ice-lollies. In dedication to Ice Cream month I thought I’d revisit the happiness with 10 retro classics!

  1. Fab

Unknown

Fab has to be my personal favourite! The 3 in 1 fun lolly coated with chocolate and sprinkles, creamy vanilla and a juicey strawberry layer. I remember biting off the vanilla and then onto the strawberry always trying to save the chocolate bit till last. I would always end up a little disappointed, as you must eat the choc to get to the strawberry lolly as  I’m sure you all know.

2. Zoom

Zoom-Lolly

Most of you probably know this as a rocket lolly but a zoom was so much more with lemon, lime and strawberry. The name alone making you believe that you could fly to the moon and back if you ate it!

3. Screw Ball

Vanilla Ice cream and ripple sauce, eat as fast as you can to receive the bubblegum reward at the end at least that what me and most of my friends thought.

4.Nobbly Bobbly

Unknown-1

I can still hear the “mmmmm Nobbly Bobbly” slogan in my head every time I pick one up so it must a good ice lolly contender! Strawberry ice cream and melted choc covered in as many hundred and thousands as you could fit in your mouth this bring smiles everytime.

5. Twister

Unknown-2

A yummy spiral of ice cream on the outside followed by fruity strawberry in the middle hours of fun trying to extract the ice cream first.

6. Feast

Unknown-3

The King of Chocolate ice lollies guaranteed to leave you feeling sick but smug that you finished it!

7. Calippo

images-2

Calippo remind me of playing out on hot summer days. They always melted super fast and you seem to end up drinking the end of your lolly ice instead of eating it.

8. Cornetto

Unknown-4

Cornetto brings me fond memories of my granddad. Every time I went over for my tea as a child it was almost customary to bring out a Cornetto with its crunchy wafer with chocolate at the bottom topped with ice cream and nuts. I always left the wafer as a child once i’d had eaten the choc from the bottom of course.

9. Rowntree fruit pastille lolly

images-3

The brighter the better and who could forget the combination of 5 yummy flavours all in one go blackcurrant, orange, lime, strawberry and a burst of lemon at the end!

10. Mini Milk

Unknown-7

Although a classic with it’s choices of Vanilla, Chocolate or Strawberry flavour this was always a last option for me as a child because it went to fast the clue is in the name!
